Scenic in 1932, of interest here is the Stevens Pass Highway. The GN bridges have been removed, but the crossing, circled in red, is clearly visible.

To the left, all traces of the old highway have been obliterated. To the right, amidst a forest of devil's club, the old road is visible until it disappears in to the Tye River.
Here we are about 300 feet downstream, the Stevens Pass Highway ran parallel to the Tye River. Some sections of the road have washed out but a keen observer can see remains of this historic route.
